This is the only monument to a foreign literary character in St. Petersburg that was unveiled on April 11, 2003 on Balkan Square on the day of the 120th anniversary of the character’s creator, Czech writer Jaroslav Hasek. The monument was made by sculptor A.S. Charkin in collaboration with DB Pakhomov at the factory of art casting them. M.G. Manizer “Monument sculpture”. The sculpture is made in full size of the literary hero - 160 cm. ;-) At first, the monument stood at the entrance to the Kupchino metro station, and then it was transferred to the arch of the shopping center on Balkan Square.

At a passing spot, a little humorous. As well as at many copper sculptures, the part is erased to shine. Nose tinder passersby, probably for good luck.
