A splendid house, without exaggeration one of the most beautiful houses in St. Petersburg. The house has an interesting story. In the 1820s. there was a small mansion with a garden. At the end of the 1840s. in its place was built a two-story wooden house on a stone foundation for the titular adviser D. D. Molimonov, inherited by S. D. Molimonov. In 1859 the house, which already belonged to the court councilor P.G. Polyansky, architect. VP Lvov rebuilt the building into a three-storey stone house with an outbuilding in the yard. Then the house was owned by the Khokhlovs, since 1864 - by ED Vilinskaya, then by the Schreiber. In 1915 the house was bought by S. M. Krasnovsky. KA Schreiber's apartment building was built in 1907 (architect VI Van der Gucht) on the site of the most famous visiting house. The facade of the building is decorated with elements of the Baroque style. The corner is crowned with a bay window-tower and is decorated with figures of the three graces. The interiors of the premises were designed by the architect. From the side of Potemkinskaya st. in the 1910s the Norwegian embassy was located. The site at the corner of Zakharyevskaya and Potemkinskaya (former Tavricheskaya) streets in the 1820s was occupied by a small wooden mansion with a garden and outbuildings. On the Detailed Plan of the Capital City of St. Petersburg, Major General Schubert in 1828, it is listed as number 622, the drawing shows a small corner house, a garden on the side of Potemkinskaya Street, two courtyard wings. The entrance to the site was from Zakharyevskaya Street, on the border with the neighboring site, just as it is now. The neighboring area was occupied by the Workshop Yard and the Stables of the Cavaliergvard Regiment. On the contrary, in the 5th quarter of the Foundry part, the Kavalergvard barracks are indicated. In 1864, at the intersection of Zakharyevskaya and Potemkinskaya (former Tavricheskaya) streets, there is a two-story semi-stone (the first floor is stone, the second is wooden) house with 9 window axes on Potemkinskaya Street. and 12 window axes along Zakharyevskaya st. Both facades are sheathed with kalevanny boards, window openings are decorated, the facade on Potemkinskaya st. decorated with pilasters and a semicircular pediment. In 1869, work was carried out on the reconstruction of the stairs - the external wooden stairs to the 2nd floor were demolished and replaced with internal stone ones. During this period, the house belonged to the wife of the court counselor Elizaveta Vilinskaya and the daughter of the Titular Counselor Malimonova. In 1883, the house was owned by an honorary citizen, merchant Ya.A. Khokhlov. The old half-stone corner house is supposed to be dismantled due to dilapidation. A one-story stone courtyard outbuilding was built along the southern border of the site. In addition, on the site there is a courtyard wing along the western border of the site and a courtyard wing along the eastern border. The courtyard wing, located along the western border of the site, was included in the later construction. In 1906, according to the project of the architect V.I. Van der Gucht, developed by order of the owner of the plot of the Prussian citizen Karl Avgustovich Schreiber, the front corner building was erected. In addition, the architect has developed a project for the superstructure of courtyard 2, 3-storey buildings up to 5 floors. The plot, rectangular in plan, was supposed to be built up as densely as possible. The front facades are decorated in eclectic techniques. The corner of the building was cut off and decorated with a semicircular bay window at 3-5 storeys, completed with a turret with a dome - a typical urban planning accent, characteristic of this period, that highlights the corner of the quarter. Comparing the design drawings with the data of a full-scale survey of the building, it can be stated that the project has been implemented in full. The front facade along Zakharyevskaya Street has 16 window axes, along the 3rd axis on the right there is a passage to the courtyard under the arched arch, along the 4th axis - the entrance to the building. The facade is accentuated by two small projections, limited by fluted Corinthian semi-columns at the 3-4 floor mark, completed with semi-circular pediments. The field of gables is decorated with stucco molding. On the third floor there are balconies; the openings of the balcony doors are decorated with semicircular sandrids with medallions and reclining figures. The facade along Potemkinsky Street is longer, with 20 window axes, along the seventh axis on the left there is an entrance to the stairs.

Yes, the architecture of St. Petersburg is impressive. Sometimes you can pass by and not pay attention. By this house you can not pass. Be sure to stop and look and see. Now the front doors are under repair. By the summer everything will shine with beauty.
