The Neptune Fountain is located in the largest central basin of the Upper Garden. On a granite pedestal stands a bronze figure of the god of the seas with a crown on his head and a trident in his hand. The granite pedestal of the statue is surrounded by riders on sea horses and trumpets trumpeting shells on winged dragons and dolphins. The pool, created under Peter I, in the 1730s was decorated with a gilded lead sculpture cast according to the models of B. K. Rastrelli. In the center of the pool, a grand multi-figure composition "Neptune's Chariot" appeared, and a three-stage cascade on the southern side of the pool was decorated with a statue of "Winter".

I heard about this fountain. I am glad that my expectations coincided with what I saw. Very nice fountain.

Upper Park is the best park in Petrodvorets, Russia and perhaps the world. ... Well, maybe the Small Trianon is still just as sweet to me, and the Tuileries, and the Park Guell, and Villa Borghese, and ... Composition: "Fountain NEPTUN" ⛲1721-1724, arch. W-B. Leblon. ⛲1737, sculptor B.K. Rastrelli. ⛲1798-1799, arch. F.P. Brower; sculptors H. Ritter, G. Schweiger, I. Eisler. The pool, created under Peter I, in the 1730s was decorated with a gilded lead sculpture cast according to the models of B. K. Rastrelli. In the center of the pool, a grandiose multi-figured composition "Chariot of Neptune" appeared, and a three-stage cascade on the southern side of the pool was decorated with a statue of "WINTER" .❗ At the end of the 18th century, a bronze composition with the figures of the sea god and his retinue, purchased by Paul I in Germany in 1797, was installed on the site of the lost beauty of the “Chariot of Neptune”. Cast in the 1650s by sculptors H. Ritter, G. Schweiger and I. Eisler, it is one of the most outstanding works of Western European art of the 17th century. Place "Winter" in the cascade of the pool took a bronze copy of the antique statue of Apollo Belvedere. During the Great Patriotic War, sculptures were stolen and taken to Germany. Subsequently, at the request of the Soviet government, they were returned, installed in their original place, and the statue of Apollo was recreated using a plaster cast.

In the middle of the large pool rises a whole sculptural composition, and on the south side you can see the statue of Apollo Belvedere. The bronze figure of the main character - Neptune is mounted on a high pedestal of granite. The head of the sea king is crowned by a large crown, and in his right hand he holds a trident.
