Chizhovskiy Kompleks

The Chizhov complex in the village of Yekimtsevo, where from the end of the 19th century there was an agricultural school named after F.V. Chizhov (in the Soviet years it was a zootechnical school, it was closed in 1986). The Kologrivsky complex was an ideal estate designed to use all the natural resources of the northern region. Here worked: flax mill with a full production cycle; dairy processing enterprise; leather tannery; cheese factory; brickworks; chemical laboratory and technical workshops; experimental fields, vegetable gardens, an exemplary apiary and greenhouse, in which even grapes and citrus fruits were grown; steam mill; weather station. The impressive two-story semi-basement building is richly decorated with front brickwork. Large lancet windows and other architectural details make it look like a gothic medieval castle.
