The Kostroma Kremlin is the historical core of the city of Kostroma, occupying a high hill on the left bank of the Volga. Since all of its significant buildings were demolished during the Soviet era, the location of the Kremlin can now be judged by the houses of the cathedral clergy above the ramparts and the rotunda of the second half of the 20th century that marks the entrance to its territory (the so-called “Ostrovsky's pavilion”).
