The estate of the merchant Timofei Vasilyevich Chistov, built in the second quarter of the 19th century, occupies an entire city block, bounded by modern streets - Nikolskaya (Pushkina), Nagornaya, Uglichskaya. In the complex of buildings, the master's house of the Chistovs stands out, which in Myshkin belongs to the fame of the most beautiful building in the city. This is a two-story mansion, partly finished with stucco. There is a small mezzanine above the second floor, the balcony of which is decorated with columns with a portico. The house was built by Vasily Ivanovich Chistov, the founder of a merchant dynasty, an honorary citizen of Myshkin, one of the largest grain merchants in the Yaroslavl province. Under the Chistovs, the city flourished. Father and sons made a significant contribution to the development of Myshkin. It was about this time that I. S. Aksakov wrote, calling the city "quiet, peaceful, friendly, not slanderous", and the city head Timofei Vasilyevich Chistov "clever and expert in his field."
