Lenin's monument by Matvey Manizer is located on Revolution Square. Installed on the site of the monument to Alexander the Second Liberator. The author of the monument is the architect V. Sherwood. The king was depicted in his greatcoat, at the foot of the monument there were four figures that personified historical events: the liberation of the peasants from serfdom, the conquest of the Caucasus, the liberation of the Bulgarians from the Turkish yoke, the conquest of Central Asia, and at the foot of the figure were shields with inscriptions dedicated to the deeds of the Emperor. After the Revolution, the cast-iron figures of the Liberated Peasant and others were removed, as were the massive cast-iron chains surrounding the monument. Now, not proportionally, a small sculpture of the leader stands on a very high pedestal, which remained from the king standing here before. In 1986, when Samara celebrated its 400th anniversary, the Revolution Square was covered with red asphalt.
