With the initiative to install the monument for the first time in 2006, the local deputy of the City Duma Mikhail Matveyev [. On Nekrasovskaya street in Samara, near which a monument is erected, Valentin Ivanovich Yezhov was born and lived - one of the authors of the script for this film. The monument, created by sculptor Konstantin Cherniavsky, has an almost portrait resemblance to the actor Anatoly Kuznetsov, who brilliantly played Comrade Sukhov. The monument is made of bronze almost in full size, cast in Smolensk and weighs 315 kg. It is installed without a pedestal directly on the ground. The monument was created due to financing by the national program "In the family circle" to enhance the tourist attraction of the city and donated to Samara as a gift
