The founder of the Zhigulevsky brewery Alfred von Wakano lived with his family in the mansion on the territory of the enterprise. In 1914, his eldest son Vladimir built a house on Theater Square with a view of the city theater, the Volga and the brewery, the director of which he had been since 1905. The mansion of Vladimir von Wakano is the last Samara work of the architect Dmitry Werner. Soon he went to Ivashchenkovo ​​(now Chapaevsk) as the chief architect of the Sergiyevsky plant of explosives under construction. A three-storey building with a mansard is built in the spirit of German Art Nouveau. Compared with other Werner's Samara works, the exterior of Von Wakano's mansion is almost devoid of decor. The first floor is finished with a rough stone, in the center of the facade there is a bay window with a viewing platform. In the new house Vladimir von Wakano did not live long. In 1915, at the height of the First World War, he was twice detained on suspicion of espionage, and at the end of the year they decided to send him with his father to Buzuluk under the open supervision of the police.
