The British Consulate at Takow

A nice historic building with great views lovely photo opportunities and a tea room. It takes a bit of steep walk before you emerge onto a temple at the to of the hill go beyond that and you’ll find the ex British consulate. It’s not a particularly big building and only one room is a museum, but it is attractive and has spectacular views of the harbour. Head down the other side to the other half of the site which contains full sized models and informative signs. This is a great way to understand some of the more complex bits of Taiwanese history. Note that the 25NT off in the store is a discount (can’t remember how much you have to spend) and if you opt for the cruise ticket this is also a discount (the harbour cruise leaves at 2:30 pm daily).

A great historical site lasting for more than 100 years. Nice afternoon tea as well.

I like it here as it give you a good view of Kaohsiung port from top, enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking the port makes the trip worthwhile.
