British Office Taipei

I wish it was possible to give zero stars. An absolute joke of a place. I’m a British citizen with an emergency consular situation and I wanted to speak to someone to get some advice. Apparently you can only speak to someone by making an appointment, however, I wasn’t allowed to make an appointment. I was given a phone number which connected to an international switchboard, the person on the other end of the phone had no clue about Taiwan-UK current visa situation and eventually hung up the phone on me. I genuinely couldn’t believe it.nnCalled the reception for the British Office again (I had to call 5 times in total to get absolutely no information) to make an appointment, but again I was denied.nnHow can a British citizen not be able to make an emergency appointment with their own consular office during a pandemic?nnThey literally try their best NOT to help you.nnUnbelievable.

While sitting there I was bored as hell. Do you want me to respect you,nSince you are a government organization?nnNo one here knows what venture capital or venture investing is,nnor can they speak accurate English.

I was in trouble and may have had to leave the country, I needed documents to assist in my dealings with the government here, they went above and beyond in trying to help me and I am very grateful for that. I was worried because of previous negative comments but my experience was quite the opposite. I had a real problem and they facilitated me to fix it in less than 48 hour. Really happy. Thanks.to all involved.

I’m shocked that they don’t know any basic updates information and also not surprised since this is the case for almost every bureaucratic institution in Taiwan.

Absolutely useless, rude and unhelpful.nGo out of their way to avoid anything that resembles work.
