Great selection of knives! Wow. Almost overwhelming. Staff was helpful-ish. Slightly standoffish counter service, but that seems to reflect the general knife shop attitude in this neighborhood... Would send friends here, for sure.

For under $75 you can get a knife that will likely out-cut anything you've ever used before. For a little more you can get a knife that will amaze you. Sounds expensive until you realize they last a lifetime and will transform your cooking experience.nnTheir sharpening class taught me how to maintain my knifes and gave me the confidence to do so.nnThe dull clunkers most of use as kitchen knives will fell like boat anchors after you try some knives from this shop.

This most premier kitchen knife store in the world, I haven't seen any other store match the selection, real world expertise and sharpening experience on freehand waterstones in one place. They are too humble to admit it.nnI saw Korin in New York which is the most famous of these kinds of cutlery shops. It didn't come close, they didn't have as much selection and the sales staff didn't have as much real world kitchen experience as the Portland Knife House. It is an important destination for folks visting from out of town and great place for gifts or to learn about knives from talking to friendly staff.
