Gerry Frank's Konditorei

I have lived in Salem almost my whole life, and I've always loved the Konditorei, but today I was very disappointed with their custom cake process. All I wanted to order was a plain carrot cake with plain cream cheese frosting. The carrot cake that they normally make has coconut in the frosting, but I didn't want this because the person I was ordering the cake for dislikes coconut. I was told there was no possible way that I could receive a carrot cake with plain cream cheese frosting (keep in mind they make plain cream cheese frosting for other cakes) I could only receive a carrot cake with the coconut and pineapple frosting, or a different cake with a plain cream cheese frosting. In the end I ended up going to Roth's where I could get my cake completely customized for only $17, but I really wanted the Konditorei cake due to their great quality. I understand that times are difficult right now, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to be able to order a plain cake with plain frosting.

This is the place to go if you want a pleasant, cozy atmosphere and have a sweet tooth. Numerous selections of scrumptious cakes, cheesecakes and cookie bars. There is also a small menu of sandwiches and other treats. Most people leave with “to go” boxes as the pieces of 6 layer cakes is very generous.

Excellent cakes and excellent service. I'm glad I knew my niece's favorite birthday cake when I entered. Had the choice been mine, it would have been difficult to choose from their wonderful cake selection. My niece and her guests were amazed with the beautiful as well as delicious seven layer coconut cake. When she's free, she'll be my guest for an excellent meal at Konditori.

It was awesome! The newly updated dining room is much more roomy and much easier to navigate making it less able to become chaos when it becomes crowded especially when doors are labeled only for entrance and one only for exit! Beautiful

This is some of the best cake I’ve ever had in my life! It’s not very often I can use the word “moist” unironically and not mean to invoke discomfort. This is in addition to the wonderful service, great indoors space, and tasty drinks. Thank you so much for the delicious seasonal offerings!
