My mother and I booked facials as well as massages. This was my first experience and her second at the spa. I absolutely loved my facial and was probably one of the best I've had.nnAs for the hour long swedish massage, sadly it was a miss. Christine was very sweet and asked what kind of pressure I liked as well as if I had any problem areas. I thought it was a great start as she was trying to grasp my wants and needs as a client.nnHowever, getting into the massage, I could not relax for a few reasons. First they were doing laundry while I was there and it was fairly loud in the room I was in. I'm sure it was a necessity but it distracted from the beautiful, peaceful environment that was promoted.nnSecond I consistently had to ask her to be more firm. She would for a few moments then back off. Sadly she was so light at times, it felt like someone was simply moisturizing my skin.nnI think part of the issue was that she was using too much oil and could not massage my body properly. She also did not have the best technique that I have experienced. The best way to describe it is that she pinched my skin as opposed to working the muscle tissue.nnI know she could tell I was not entirely pleased. Her only response was that I should have booked a deep tissue massage and then she could have been more firm. Honestly I did not appreciate that response as one can be firm with both styles and felt extremely uncomfortable at that point.nnThe reason I decided to write this post wasn't because of the bad experience. It happens and I wouldn't judge a whole place off of one experience. I probably would have just tried the masseuse my mother used. However Christine's almost dismissive attitude reemerged when she emailed us. I expressed my concern about the massage and again she stated I should have booked a deep tissue. I feel as almost I was being told I didn't pay enough for a quality massage.
