Breakfast sandwiches were OK; greasy but the bread was tasty. Pastry was delicious. Coffee was not great but not bad. Expensive enough that it would have been equivalent to eating at the Geiser. They had us stand in the 20-degree morning wind for about 15 minutes while they prepared our food because they only allow 1 customer in at a time. A lot of other businesses are handling things better, but it's their choice to deal with it how they wish. If it wasn't so cold wouldn't have felt bad about it.

My wife and I come to Baker City every year with the Shriners. It's customary for us to come in the day after we get in (usually on Friday's) then we'll come in when we leave that Sunday. Everyone from the staff to owner is really friendly and hospitable. Deeply sad we didn't make it this year. We always look forward to coming in and being greeted with a smile. We wish you all nothing but the very best.

10/2020 update. Ohhh how the sweet wife has turned a cold shoulder and frozen us out. We came for coffee and treats to warm up and end up getting served a potential case of pneumonia from being forced to wait outside for 16 minutes in literally freezing weather to get them. If you're going to be over the top in your demands from customers the least you can do is the business protocol for COVID cleanliness like wiping the credit card machine, handles and doors down in between customers and set your ordering and pay station up at the front door or create a drive through if you won't let customers stay inside like a good dog until they get their items they paid for. When they ordered us outside after I said I didn't want to go outside as it was freezing, I let them know we would wait I our car. Also, One order didn't get their 50% discount that was advertised. So cold. Unless you want to camp outside in sub zero protective gear to get a baked good you should definitely find somewhere else to eat.nSide note, I used to LOVE this place. I literally bought the hat and sent everyone who I hear is going through Baker here. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I'm so bummed. At least there's still the Pine.

SO DELICIOUS! We had the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese, cardamom knot, and apple buckwheat muffin (SO MOIST), but we wanted all the pastries!! Loved that we could get the grilled cheese with carrot sticks as a healthy side to slightly offset the amazing sweets. The woman behind the counter was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They take covid seriously and only allow one group inside at a time and masks are mandatory. There’s a fair amount of outdoor seating, which is really nice. Everything felt clean and safe! Can’t recommend highly enough.
