Located in a cute small business business plaza, we were excited to try this cup cake bakery in Avon, CT. There was a line (due to the pandemic) so we thought, 'These are gonna be good.' The bakery boasts 50 or so flavors, with gluten available, as well as some other bakes goods, and even doggie cup cakes. The four we ordered were Coconut, two chocolate varieties and a chocolate with a caramel and nuts topping. All four were disappointing. When we lived in Massachusetts we were able to visit three bakeries and I would say, Cake Gypsy would have ranked fourth from that list. First, the cake part is simply too dry, and so the cake falls apart. The toppings are too sugary and less like a buttery cream. This is basically a step above your mass market super market bakery in our opinion. Great for a kid's party but if an adult with a bit more sophisticated palette, its a miss. I highly recommend the staff drive over to Worcester and try Queens Cup Cakes for a lesson in high quality Cup Cakes. In fairness, 50ish flavors is cool and it could have been the baker behind the mixer, or their target market is more high consumption folks. Overall, it was worth a try but I don't see us coming back.

My husband got me some gluten free cupcakes for my birthday. They were vanilla and marble. They were absolutely delicious. They weren't dry, as most gluten free cakes are, they were very moist.nMy husband, who isn't GF, really enjoyed the GF cupcakes. He said he didn't even know that it was GF because the cupcake was so moist.nFrom what my husband was told, they don't make GF cakes, they just make GF cupcakes. I would definitely recommend Cake Gypsy.

I ordered cupcakes to celebrate the birthday of a loved one. When I got there to pick up I asked for small containers, and let them know the person was elderly and may want to share. The manager was very sweet...quite lovely lady...cannot remember her name..she went out of her way to get me a few containers and little birthday decorations for the cupcakes as well!!! I live in a different town but will definitely be trekking over the mountain for more, plus they're delish!!!

These people are great at what they do. I know that fancy cupcakes are all the rage and in that world these people do a fantastic job. That said I'm not a big fan of the cupcake craze but they make a very good cannoli

Great selection of cupcakes and they even expanded their store since the last time I was here. Recommend to anyone looking to provide great cupcakes for any occasion
