WOW. We had our wedding cake made from here. Absolutely amazing. It looked great, and tasted even better. Normally, wedding cakes look good, but don't taste that great. Throughout the night, I kept getting people coming up to me saying how great the cake was. And it was delicious! We had the white cake with vanilla mousse and their signature buttercream. Very basic, but absolutely amazing nonetheless!

I grew up in the Hartford area and have many fond memories of visiting Modern Pastry as a child. This year I decided to order several cookie trays to give out as gifts. Their online ordering system made it easy to place the order, the items were shipped sooner than I had even hoped for, and best yet, they were able to find a way to reduce the cost of shipping and issued me a refund for the reduction! I highly recommend this bakery - their Italian cookie trays are hugely popular as gifts!

Do NOT get your wedding cake from here.nI had my wedding at Aria, and they front the cost for some of the cake. We PURCHASED another tier out of our own pocket to make out cake a 3 tier. We asked for the exact replica of their displayed cake. Easy right? Nothing crazy, just a silver drip pattern that they made us pay EXTRA for. No biggie. we also provided them with a Burgundy ribbon to display around the edge of the cake JUST LIKE THEY ASKED FOR. Until I get there on my wedding day to see this disaster. Horrible frosting job, they left the ribbon on it & the ribbon absorbed the oil from the cake and TURNED BLACK. I don’t know where to even start with the drip pattern. I could of done a much better job myself and I am regretting not doing just that. Will never be purchasing from this business again. I’m so extremely disappointed that a cake as simple as this, an almost exact replica of their own displayed cake!!!!! Could turn out so horrible.nnEDIT TO BUSINESS REPLY: I don’t know why you’re bringing up the fact that yes I did pay for extra. I stated that above. Also no I wasn’t given that extra slice to take home. I only got my top tier actually. Also you said you didn’t know the ribbon was going to do that, meaning you saw it before it was delivered and didn’t fix the issue. I’ve never been so dissatisfied on my 21 years on this earth. Very unprofessional. Disgusting, extremely unprofessional and rude to say that I should of contacted you privately dying this “hard time” trust me I know it’s a hard time but normally when I see an issue with my product I fix it BEFORE I get it to the customer. We tried a few places for our wedding cake but Modern Pastry stood out from the rest. The cake was fluffy and the fillings were delicious. We ended up getting a 2 tier cake with pineapple and raspberry mousse. They were able to replicate the design we wanted and it was executed beautifully. Delivery was prompt.

Best Italian cookies in CT. The cannolis are amazing nuts and cherries at the end the only way to eat them.
