Farewell to Isabella et Vincent (Fairfield bakery – negative review)nnI first visited the bakery when It opened more than a decade ago and the smell of fresh baguettes, never ending display of mousses, tarts, napoleons, and abundance of handmade chocolates made our family a regular customer many Sundays. Vincent, the seventh-generation baker, was inspiring to watch molding the next batch of chocolates or making another perfect batch of baguettes. Isabella had an elegant touch with customers, their kids also helped on the weekends, it was a family business, and they took pride. Fast forward, Isabella and Vincent are moving back to France and selling their business to a commercial baker, and now French baguettes look like Italian loafs, Napoleons got Americana size and doze of extra sugar to them, poor macaroons will lose a taste challenge to frozen imports from Trader’s Joe, and all familiar aroma of fresh baked bread that seduced our taste buds for years is gone. I did not want to give up on the new ‘old’ bakery I gave it a few more tries, but today I am saying goodbye, the quiche I bought had no resemblance what it was, it tastes more like an omelet, the bread is something you can buy in Costco for half the price, and pastries are overloaded with sugar. Isabella et Vincent you will be missed …

Bought beautiful looking tarts to take to a dinner last night. There were 4 of us. No one could eat the cardboard crust. So sad.

I love this unique bakery! The napoleons are to die for and their breads! Plus, the staff are so very pleasant and helpful.

One of our favorite places in town. Breakfast pastries are to die for. Baguettes are delicious even by themselves. And they have a great selection of quiches.

I was super excited to find a European style patisserie but it did not match my expectations. Things were too bready and definetely not what you would find in Europe. The search continues.
