Absolutely love this place. All the people are super friendly and accommodating. The bakery has a large selection of pastries, muffins, and hit items like sausage rolls, samosas etc. They also have wonderful cakes but I would recommend ordering these ahead as they only have a few available for random pick up. Need lunch? They have sandwiches to!

It is very clear the women who work here pick and choose who they are kind to. I came in and it is not a welcoming atmosphere, not only did it feel like the woman in the front did not want to genuinely help but, some of the goodies I ordered were not in my boxes which was really disappointing and I was getting stuff for myself and sister in law who just gave birth, I specified what needed to be in what box and nothing was in the correct boxes and they had put stickers on them so I had to take them off and re organize everything in the car. On top of this, I was the first person in there and the young man who works there had to go to the back to get what I wanted it took about five minutes and I was getting quite a bit from the front, I try to tell the woman what I want and she told me the other man would be helping me, she let four people go in front of me and by the time the young man came back the stuff I wanted was gone because she helped the other customers instead of myself. The two woman who work here treat the young man poorly and don’t seem to want to answer any questions. It’s very sad to see. Drove from Vancouver for a horrible experience.

Nice store, good assortment, more of a deli with bakery. They do some buns, lots of savoury, no pastries that I could see. But they don't pretend to be a pastry shop. Went back and found some pastries, won't do that again.

I came to Hillcrest to order my husbands birthday cake and buns, when we went to pick it up, there had been a mistake with the order, with multiple apologies and care, not only did Hillcrest staff bring their cake decorator back in to do his cake, they hand delivered it to our home so we had it for his Birthday dinner!nI'm beyond impressed with not only the delish Black Forest Cake they made but mostly their outstanding customer care and service!nI highly Recommend Hillcrest for all your baking needs! They are an amazing little local business I will continue to support!nThanks!

Sandwiches aren't bad, but I felt pretty uncomfortable with the kid making the sandwiches behind the counter. No mask, long hair hanging over the cold table. The customers were wearing masks, but none of the employees were. It's such a small space where they make the sandwiches, which makes it difficult to order and pay for your sandwich while trying to social distance.nnI made a comment about feeling uncomfortable with them not wearing masks while making food in front of you, and was told it's the employees decision whether they want to wear a mask or not.nnWith record numbers of COVID-19 rising every day, you should be doing everything you can to make your customers feel safe. I for one did not feel safe and won't be returning.
