I love the entrance to this place is reminds of a castle it’s so beautiful and the grounds inside are well kept and peaceful. The plots are spaced out nicely and have plenty of room. This is a big cemetery!

This cemetery is a celebration of life! I go running here in the evenings and there are so many paths and trails and interesting things to see. People bike, run, walk, and learn to drive here. There is tons of activity at any time of day. There are entire sections of the park where you can't see anything but rolling hills and trees all around you. It's hard to believe it's in the middle of the city.

The cemetery is one if the closest green spaces to the Garfield, Bloomfield, Lawrenceville, friendship area. While it is a cemetery it is often used by folks including myself as a green space. There are parts of the grass that there are no grave stones and the wooded area that is great for traversing and exploringnnThe area is well kept, with a thorough grounds crew.nnThis also used to be. Great place for sledding, though only well after hours. Sadly this is no longer the case and there is a crew that seems to monitor the area late into the night.nnRunning, biking and exploring is still great. A hike in the woods, a sit by the ponds or water fountains, this is one of my favorite green spaces in Pittsburgh.

This very large cemetery is an awesome place just to walk around on a nice summer day . My wife and I brought our three-month-old daughter there for a picnic in 1978 . Lots of important figures from the Civil War buried here as well as the early 1900s film star , Lillian Russell . It sits near the site of the Arsenal Explosion that occurred on the same day as the battle of Antietam .
