Prantl's Bakery

Was so excited when my daughter recently moved right down the street from Prantl's Bakery in Shadyside! I called to place our Thanksgiving order to find we only had an hour left before the cutoff!!nI WISH I HAD MISSED IT!nOur pumpkin pie and dinner rolls were inedible. The pie was so wet and runny it spread out on the plate (did they forget to bake it?) and you could have used the dinner rolls as a weapon. I called to let them know but they really didn't seem interested.nI'll never complain about the drive to Oakmont ever again!

Very nice indeed. Prantl's has been on my s___ list since November. I bought a burnt almond torte there for my kids Bday. It was not up to snuff. Today, they replaced it, with apologies & a smile!

Good bakery, there cookies are very yummy, moist and lots of icing. Very reasonable prices as well!

My family and I have LITERALLY used Prantls my entire life and even my older siblings so we are talking 40 years they have been our ONLY bakery for every birthday and holiday. I just knew if I got married they’d be doing my cake even if it had to be shipped.nI came back home for my sisters birthday last month and I don’t know if it was a result of covid or a change in baker but I’ve never had a cake that dissatisfying from them. Just a basic yellow batter with buttercream frosting and the quality of everything, especially the frosting, tasted like it was purchased from dollar tree.nThe wait to pick up a cake that was ordered two days in advance was roughly 20 minutes. The new young staff seem pretty clueless. The one girl not only took 10 minutes in back to get a cake that was ordered to be ready for pick up an hour before I got there, but she thought it wise to seal the cake box up with DUCT tape as if it were some drug package. I just miss the old Prantls and the standard and quality it offered. I’d hate to see such a legacy destroyed by unaware owners or slightly inept employees.nI hate to sound harsh as it’s just a bakery but again, we have a LONG history with it and I hope to see it return to its former quality and glory.nMy last experience would’ve received 1 star but on the strength of my love for the bakery I just couldn’t do it. Hopefully by the next try I can return to five stars.

Great local bakery with great selection of bakery goods especially cookies, cupcakes, cakes and pastries.
