Phoebe's Pastry Cafe

My wife and I were getting a vehicle repaired at the auto mall early Saturday. We wanted to get breakfast and tried to order from Panera but after arriving, trying to navigate the online menu and finally calling and ordering we're told it would take over half an hour for them to prepare two small coffees and two quiche. I had passed Phoebe's on the way and decided to go back and try it. As general contractor and my wife who is in dental field, we were both pleasantly surprised to see the highest standards for Covid 19 protection being taken by this business. Especially since so many other businesses are taking the regulations with a much lighter approach. I have to say the breakfast quiche, the chai lattes and juice were slightly more expensive than any expectation we may have had, but the value, food quality, cleanliness and treatment by the staff were very good. As a local small business owner, I completely understand slightly higher prices during these times, especially for a local small business compared to a nationwide franchise. I have no problem paying a little more for the value in product and service from a conscientious local business owner.

I ordered a turkey sandwich. Just the sandwich was $10. On its own fine, if its a great sandwich but that is expensive. The sandwich had almost no turkey at all! A couple pieces of bacon and a few leafs of spinach, add pesto butter were added. It was essentially a buttery bun with a tiny bit of meat and a tiny bit of spinach. Quite disappointing. I felt ill immediately after eating it, and I spent five minutes in the parking lot trying not to hurl. It was disappointing value. No space to eat inside so I took my lunch in the parking lot. No room eally to socially distance in line. She asked me for a tip even though there was no service other than selling me the sandwich to go? Music was so loud inside that it was hard to hear the counter person. I stopped in because it was close to my work, but I can't really see a reason to go back, other than maybe to try a pastry (also expensive, around 6.50 to $10 it looked like) as at least visually there were some nice LOOKING ones. Was not a great experience.

I love this place! Too many good things to say. The staff are awesome, the lunch and dinner food options are especially delicious. EVERYTHING at Phoebes is top notch! They have some of the best sweet treats I’ve come across in the Olympia area. I really like the “Bernie” and the eclairs are great too! Bottom line is you have to give this place a visit if you’ve never been into the store. I especially recommend Phoebes to anyone out there with a sweet tooth.. you won’t be disappointed!

Went in for the first time today. The person working there was absolutely fabulous and kind. The eclairs there are so yummy! Definitely check this place out if you can!
