This place takes on a whole new vibe at night bright blue orbs 4 to be exact on a foggy half ud83cudf12 ud83cudf03 moon friday night october 19 th to be exact mysteriously danced around for a period of thirty seconds. flashing from one to next, they all appeared and and vanished into thin air. I searched for an explanation but found none there was no people , no toys , no animals , nothing to explain the source of ghostly lights. Fear was not the word couriosity gripped me more . There is a bench there next to a post with a water spiket if you lay there with your head to the spiket you may sit up to see the same sight as me.

There is little here, just a field with no historic headstones that would indicate its place in history.nnAfter the US Army Fort Steilacoom was de-commissioned as a military post in 1868, the site was transferred to the Washington Territories as an insane asylum in 1871. Eventually, it would come to be known as Western State Hospital.nnIn its early years, the hospital was self-supporting. The large area across Steilacoom Blvd (now Steilacoom Park) housed a dairy, raised pigs and contained fields for various crops. The cemetery sits among these fields.nnIt was State Hospital patients and employees that built the historic rock fence along Steilacoom Blvd in 1916. It is 1,737 feet long, and made from stone and mortar.nnMany of the photos here are of this historic fence. Located nearby, the fence lies along the main road between Western State Hospital and the patient cemetery.nnThe cemetery contains the unmarked remains of the patients in residence who died from 1876 to 1953. The area contains a newer historical stone marker and an old cemetery sign.
