Happy to see the small but personal service on memorial day despite the virus.

On Monday, May 29, 2017, I, along with my husband and son, who is USMC Vet., attended the Memorial Day Cremony. I have been attending this ceremony for the last 7 or 8 years. I just wanted to commend the committee that put the program together. I was very moved and so appreciated the heart-felt speeches and letters that were read. The children / students who sang and shared were fabulous. Coming from a family that has served in every branch of the military at one time or another, I appreciate the show of gratitude this cermony always gives. Thank you again for putting together such an awesome event. I look forward to next year.

This cemetery was around when there was a town called Gallatin taking up most of present day Downey. The cemetery was family owned at first, then after changing hands again was donated to the city Of Downey. There are headstones with dates from the early 1800's on them all the way to the present.
