It is Father's Day and it says the cemetery is open from 8am-5pm. The gates were closed with a line of more than 10 cars at 8:45. I called and the woman I spoke with said it was by appointment for mozzeloum only. It would be nice if this information was on the website. It's very inconvenient for grieving loved ones to have absolutely no information and not be able to visit their loved ones on FATHERS DAY! DO NOT SAY YOU'RE OPEN 8-5 IF YOU'RE NOT OPEN! put by appointment only on your website! We pay so much money to get our loved ones buried here.
I visit this cemetery because my parents are buried here. It is also the resting place as well of several neighbors, friends and members of my parish. Catholics consider cemeteries to be holy ground and it is a place for prayer. It is a place that holds many memories, some are bittersweet but some are comforting as well. Although I have cried many a tear here, I have found beauty and healing in the flowers and the many angels among the monuments.
Beautiful, full of grass fields and trees. If you drive all the way up, you get an amazing view of SF and the bay area.
Every time I go to the cemetery every one is great or if I call great too.I go every year. I drive about 900 round trip.
The staff at St. Mary Cemetery is so great. Their cemetery, although old, also is in the midst of a renovation so it's location with a view over the bay makes for a beautiful cemetery.
