FRAUDULENT - MISREPRESENTING ABILITY & QUALITYnSadly, I have to write this review to warn people of this operation. Promises were made, money was exchanged only to be conned by Amanda Dorsey. Lesson…NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY to anyone.nShe was recommended to me by her grandfather, former owner of Dorsey Qualify Upholstery, a reputable company. He directed me to Amanda (his granddaughter) who worked for him for years.nnAfter connecting with Amanda, I drove the piece out to Amanda and gave her the piece (a boat cushion) a deposit for the job (material I was told). She was replacing the gray area in the pictures. She gave a timeline of 5 weeks. Seven (7) weeks later I still hadn’t heard anything. So I called. I got the first of several excuses and new promises which she failed to deliver on two more times. I even drove out twice more with promises it was ready only to find it was a flat out lie. 10 more minutes I was told. That was a lie!nnFinally, 9 weeks later I’m told it’s ready. I make yet another trip out to pick up the piece. Upon arriving, Amanda is not there but her friend gets the piece from the shop (which is wrapped in plastic), generously places it in the back of my car where I gladly settled the bill ($$$).nUpon getting the piece home, I opened up the package and was appalled at what I saw. The piece came back WORSE than it went in. See Pics. I immediately tried to call her. No answer. So I began texting.nnTrying to be reasonable and get something back, I requested a partial refund for several days only to be ignored. She’s got the money and I’ve since had to take it to another shop to fix the hack job she did on my cushion. The guy that redid the cushion could not believe how bad her work was. Exposed liner material, exposed staples, not enough material (appears as the material she used was old and brittle), Pieced it together (see center seam),crooked stitch lines, etc. BAD, BAD, BAD!nnAfter everything was said and done, she offered to re-do the job. Ahhh...No way! It's already been redone by someone else.nnNEVER give anything you care about to this company!nnThese pictures are of the job she did (I'm not kidding), and how it was given back to me.

I really enjoyed my experience with this company, and it's owner. Beautiful work done at a reasonable price. I will definitely be working with Amanda again. I love supporting a small business.

FRAUDULENTnI was looking into have a drivers seat from a bus I purchased reupholstered. I have never had anything reupholstered so I googled near by options. That’s how I found Fam’s Family Upholstery.nAfter contacting, Amanda was very helpful and informative and came across very professional from the start.nShe came to me and helped me decide on the fabric.nI paid her a deposit to cover the material and the rest was due at completion in about 3 weeks.nThe pick up kept being pushed back and 4nweeks later she said it was ready.nnShe could not be there when I picked it up from her house. She had it nicely wrapped up in plastic in her driveway and said to leave the check in the envelope in the back of her truck.nI got home unwrapped the seat and it looked a hot mess.nI’m not sure what happened?nHer reviews were great! But I’ve come to realize she only had 4 reviews.nI told her what colors and fabric I wanted and that’s it.nI did not think it was possible to get it back any worse then the old ripped faded fabric that was on it. I was soooo wrong and should have opted for a slip cover.nI contacted her and told her this was unacceptable and to either give my check back or hold it until she corrected this mess. I even said I would sacrifice the deposit I gave her at the beginning.nShe asked if I would give her the opportunity to make it right. That she would hold my check and not cash it until she made it right. Instead she cashed my check early.nShe picked up the seat that Friday evening and again communicated through the next few days- again was delayed in returning my chair.nShe ended up returning my seat with a slip cover she had laying around and told me she couldn’t get the new fabric to attach and would leave a check written for the amount I paid her with the seat.nnShe apologized again dropped off the unfinished seat and left me a check written from her business account which BOUNCED days later.nShe again apologized and said she would have the cash to me today...... I held off on this review until now.nI DO NOT have my money nor any response whatsoever.nThis woman is a fraud, and can not reupholster anything.nnAfter looking into her company with all the great reviews I found another company located in Bedford called Dorsey’s quality upholstery. The reviews within the past year are all this kind of fraudulent business with Amanda’s name in the reviews.nAmanda’s last name is Dorsey and she now works under Fam’s Family Upholstery INC ud83eudd2fnDo not do business with this company! I have given her multiple chances to make this right and she has now opted to ignore my texts all together.nI am not the person that wants to ruin a local business’s reputation but she has left me with no other options and can not continue to rip people off!!! I highly DO NOT recommend using this woman

I have had many items done by them over the years. Ottoman recovered, chairs recovered, pillows made, step stools recovered, a table covered, a table painted and more. Love the work and would recommend them!
