Words cannot express how truly amazing Dillard Funeral Home is. The professionalismnAnd the compassion shown to us by everyone was wonderful. They made everything as streamline and simple as possible during this most difficult time. The staff went out of their way to make sure our every need was met and that our loved one was also taken care of. We are grateful to Ricky and all the staff for all that they did for us and are continuing to do.
If you want to ensure that you receive the best service, help, support, and encouragement possible, I would absolutely recommend Dillard and Hillcrest. Every person we came into contact with was caring, knowledgeable, and sympathetic. No other funeral home that I know of provides this level of customer service, and for that, I could not be more grateful!
My father passed unexpectedly in early January from COVID. We used their adjoining business, Palmetto Cremation Society, for his cremation needs. I picked his ashes up from the funeral home itself. I was actually really happy with the services we had received from UNTIL arriving to pick up my Daddy's cremains. He wanted his ashes to be spread. They were told this from the beginning by me specifically. However, his girlfriend still wanted a large urn. No problem. Two days before I am to leave to go pick his ashes up we start having some concerns about making sure they understand that the urn is to have a very small amount. Like the amount you would put in a mini urn as that is what she was originally told to purchase (again I specifically told them this - in writing - and made them aware that we had concerns that there may be some funny stuff on certain people's parts). I was ASSURED a majority of his ashes would be packaged for spreading and that very little would go in the urn... When I got there and inquired about exactly how much was in the urn, I was told it was FULL! And that only a small amount had been left to scatter. Somehow (I have my guesses) wires got SERIOUSLY crossed. Once I told them I used to work for a cemetary and have scattered cremains numerous times so I know what should be there they decided they would go ahead and repackage him - yes, I said REPACKAGE. So my husband and I stood outside for over an hour while they repackaged my Father's cremains. And while I did get an apology from the girl who was there that day, no one else has even bothered to see if I was okay, let alone apologize - not even the gentleman that handled everything. And to top it off, they wouldn't even let me take the urn with me once they did repackaged all. The urn that held MY father's ashes and that I paid for. They said his girlfriend would need to come pick it up (there's only one reason I can think of for this and that would be to maybe break the bad news that her sneaky tactics didn't work). Even though I am his next of kin, even though I am the one they dealt with (with the exception of signing for them to take the body and picking out her urn), and even though I am the one who paid for it all - they wouldn't let me take the remainder of his ashes and the urn. I was BEYOND blown away that any of this even happened. Especially considering I made our concerns VERY CLEAR. I'm not sure if they chose to listen to another family member rather than me (which they shouldn't have) but nearly two months later I still have zero explanation for how this occurred. As I said, I have my guesses...
Although my mom had already completed all that she could through pre-planning arrangements, there was still a lot to finalize when the moment came. Everyone at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home went above and beyond to be sure that every detail was right, that the family knew what was happening and we were comfortable, and her service was beautiful and a wonderful celebration of her life and legacy. Extremely professional with attention to every single detail. Pickens County is blessed to have Dillard when families experience loss.
They were awesome. Everything was great. Everyone was very nice and I really appreciate it.
