About 35 years ago, my husband and eldest son assembled a dining table for me from an extendable oak top they found at the dump and 4 turned oak legs they found on a fire road. When we needed extra seating, we would add plywood leaves and use a table cloth to cover the flaw. I asked Bill to refinish the table, make leaves for it and add a fifth leg for stability. He very kindly explained to me that the value of the table would not equal the cost of the improvements to it. I was VERY impressed by his forthcomingness. I explained that the table had sentimental value to me and wanted the work done anyway. When he returned the table to me, I was nearly brought to tears by how lovely it looked. He fabricated new leaves that exactly matched the table both in design and color. He made a fifth leg that he turned by hand, matching the spiral of the other 4 legs perfectly. I couldn’t be happier. Bill is a gifted craftsman and truly decent human being.
