Minor Cemetery

It is believed the old home site just west of this cemetery was at one time a hotel.nBuried in this cemetery:nInscription: Sacred to the Memory of William Minor Senr. , Son of Daniel and Mary Minor who was born in Halifax (Co.) Va., Decr. 8th, 1786, and Departed this life June 5, 1844 Aged 58 years.nnThis little Cemetery is found under a giant White Oak Tree nearing the end of its life cycle. It has one inscribed, but very old & broken monument for William Minor. There are what I believe to be at least three other graves covered in piles of old brick.nTo get there turn left (west) off of Wall-Triana Highway onto Shady Grove Road. At first the road will go straight ahead for 420 yards (2 tenths of a mile) then will bend back right. After the first bend follow the road straight for about 300 yards and the road will start to bend back left. If you want to visit stop here before the road straightens out and aim yourself northeast and climb the bank & hill passing two old wagon roadbeds for 415 feet (about 140 yards) and you will see the large White Oak Tree that hovers over the space & shelters out all other trees and has for 200 years. This is near the top of the hill.
