Great history of Yosemite National Park. Early pioneers which shaped the area. I was able to speak with a couple who gave me all the great details of the people buried here. It is located across the street and just west of the Yosemite Museum. Buried here include Native Americans, casual park visitors, and people who played important roles in the development of what is now Yosemite National Park

Historically white settlers brought to the valley the usual development that they used in the encroachment of the west - farming, ranching, commercial development, in addition to tourism. Today only tourism and rock climbing survives but the deceased from the 'settlement' era are interred in the Yosemite Cemetery. Most of the graves are modest and quite a few are unnamed. Local guides know the stories of many of the interred such as Crippen (see photos) who bled to death from a cut foot.nThe cemetery It is an interesting artifact of a bygone era.

The Yosemite village cemetery is hidden on the outskirts of the village area. There are old markers and it's a neat historical point of interest.
