I was really excited to stop by on my friend and I road trip and see the Showmen's rest. Sadly I discovered a cemetery lacking in circus spirit. I find it greatly disturbing that this website has misrepresented Showmen's Rest and greatly disrespected The Big Top Performers. So sadly one of the tombstones was literally placed leaning against a tree. There was nothing like the website portrayed. These people should be greatly ashamed. The neighbors dogs were a huge distractions as well as they were very aggressive and should be kept up and off public property where people can visit their loved ones.

This is really a nice tribute to the circus performers from old. I was very disappointed in the way the tombstones were kept. They are in such need of cleaning. Actually, so many in this Mt. Olive Cemetery need to be cleaned. The moss is doing so much to them, they are hard to read. If I were 30 years younger, no pain, I would be out there working on them. I wish some church would get a bunch of volunteers and go out and give these beautiful memorials a good cleaning. I am sure you can get a good scrub brush and cleaner that would not harm them. Such beauty.
