Giant frisbee-sized cookies, bacon bread and cute Dutch pies...to name just a few things... If Granny/Grandpa could bake for the big kids and could care less about your sugar levels...this would be the place togo for baked goodies.
Very good quality, handmade baked goods with the kitchen visible from the counter. When closed, select baked goods are set out onto a rack or on the case (wrapped of course) so that they can still be bought while the main store (Dan's is open). The Trail Mix cookies are my top pick.
I was hoping for a nice European-style bakery. This place sells plastic-wrapped sliced bread and is located inside of a supermarket... Also, the owner can't take feedback well and suggests I fly to Germany if I want a better experience.nPlease don't take it personally. Every customer has different expectations, so while most might be 100% happy with what they get - others have the right to be completely disappointed and share their thoughts. My experience is mine and mine only.
True authentic German bakery and the lady behind counter was from Germany so I knew she would be dead on with bread recipe.. I lived in Germany for 12 year and this place is equivalent to any bakery there.. The rye and beer bread is awesome.. I bought two and I bought 4 pretzels which were true authentic Bavarian pretzels.. Not like that fake they had in town at Bavarian Bakery..a chocolate croissant and raspberry cheese custard pastry.. Bravo to the owner!!!!
Great service and surprisingly great baked goods for being located in a small grocery store. Check it out if you happen to be in Leavenworth. It's not anywhere as busy as downtown.
