Easy walk from downtown Deadwood. I was visiting during the first big snow storm of the season, so everything was bathed in fresh snow which made the walk up to the cemetery all the more beautiful!nOf course, this is the cemetery where one of the most iconic Wild West figures, Wild Bill Hickock is laid to rest. He was shot in the back by Jack McCall while playing cards in a Deadwood saloon.nAnother colorful personality is buried alongside him. Calamity Jane was a friend of Hickock's and the story goes that her dying request was to be buried next to Wild Bill.nThere is a bust of Wild Bill and two fairly simple headstones for each of these historical figures.nNice views of the valley below. The day I visited I was the only person there, so it was also very peaceful and serene.nA must see stop for visitors to Deadwood and those interested in that part of our nation's history.

Enjoy strolling the cemetery using the map of important people that are buried here. Leisurely and interesting. Beautiful and captivating. Don't miss the overlook of the historic Deadwood downtown! Great photo opportunity. Nominal fee that helps maintain the site.

Enjoyed walking around and looking at the grave sites... history and lots of it right here...I will definitely have to come back here again... not enough time to walk through it all...This was my first time here...looking forward to the next visit already...

Good place to visit, especially during the early morning as there are few visitors during this time. Be prepared for walking up some steep inclines. Ample parking when we were there early in there morning. While the ticket booth is open from 9am to 5pm, visitors can use the donation box for admittance outside of those hours.
