I've always loved this store - but, I recently ordered some things online for Christmas gifts, and they showed up on my doorstep the same day, with a note thanking me for my purchase. Great customer service - above and beyond to help me out. These were things I'd thought about ordering from Amazon, but this was a WAY better experience!! Thank you so much.
Wonderful, helpful staff. Great selection of tools, vinegars, and spices. They also were kind enough to recommend local rrestaurants. Wish I could give them more stars.
Lovely store and the woman working the front was so friendly. She gave me some places in town to visit, and made me feel welcome.nCheck it out, and the rest of the stores on the strip.
Plum’s Cooking Company is a little gem in Sioux Falls. It is a high end kitchen store with a wide variety of kitchen tools, pots, pans, glassware, knives and small appliances. They also carry a nice selection of specialty food, sauces and spices. They have a wonderful selection of olive oils and vinegars. There is a professional kitchen and Plum’s offers cooking classes every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. They have local chefs who come in and teach the classes. Some on demonstration style, some are hands on. Sioux Falls is lucky to have such a nice store.
The more I think about our experience at Plum's Cooking Company, the more upset I get. I’m not a review writer, so here goes. My husband and I attended a date-night cooking seminar last Friday, called “A Night in Greece”. We paid $150 for this experience. Which, I am all for spending money if it’s worth it.nnBelow is the description of the class:nn$75 + taxnOur goal is to create a perfect date night menu for you and your guest. You will be spoiled with a delicious meal and demonstration cooking, along with a wine pairing. This will be a monthly event with different themes every month.nMenunGreek AppetizersnFried CheesenDolmadakia—Stuffed Grape Leaves with Dried Fruits, Rice and HerbsnMoussaka—Lamb and Eggplant Terrine with Tomatoes, Garlic and HerbsnFirst off -- from this description (and the cost of the class), I was expecting for at least a glass of wine to be included with our meal? Wrong. We had to purchased drinks separately upon arrival. (So we are at a total of $170 for this “experience”).nnSecond – What were the Greek Appetizers? I’m pretty sure this was missed completely. Because the first thing I ate was the Fried Cheese (which, it was very good).nnThird – Everything was already prepared! The Moussaka only needed to be assembled when we got there. The meat sauce and the vegetables were already cooked! All they did was plop it all in a big casserole dish and stick it in the oven for 40 minutes while we watched them roll grape leaves.nnFourth – there was a dessert. The dessert was supposed to have yogurt in with it. The chef mentioned several times throughout the entire demonstration that they didn’t have all the ingredients or the right ingredients to make some of the dishes, this one being one of them. So instead of yogurt, there was supposed to be cream cheese. This was absent in my dessert (this also happened to one of the people we attended with as well).nnNeedless to say, I lost interest pretty quickly when I figured out I wasn’t going to even know what goes into making Moussaka (how do you prepare the meat, what kind of spices are in there, what’s that sauce, I don’t know… because it was already made before we walked in the door). The rice in the grape leaves was already prepared. We paid $170 to watch someone assemble a casserole.nI would not recommend this to anyone. Eating dinner at a hibachi grill is more exciting than this.
