As a child I remember cleaning the graves of family and friends. My brother Cecil Mills made our visits have a personal purpose as his grave was always cleaned. Cecil was born in July 1935 and died in 1937. We would pick up the pecans from the ground. Our mom used the pecans for baking pies and cakes.nBy strolling through the cemetery you would find families that forged the cities of Garland as well as Rowlett. Times were very hard on the average family but were strengthened by the hope of change and opportunities everyone observed on the coming horizon.nMy heritage is very sacred and special to me and my family. I personally visited all the grave-sites of the many veterans of wars going back to before the Civil War. As a Viet Nam Veteran each veteran had a special place in my heart.nDrop a line if you have Members buried at the Mills Cemetery.nOr perhaps you would like to share your own story regarding the cemetery?
