I went to Embassy last week to ask questions about passport renewal for my friend who is a sportsman and needs passport asap.nnThe gentleman from Senegal at the information booth was very professional and extremely helpful. He answered all my questions. The visit was very quick with no lines. Other two Nigerian representatives were also very attentive and helpful.nnThere is inexpensive meter parking on a walking distance right behind the Embassy with lots of free spots. Just have some coins.nnEmbassy is doing a great job considering there are hundreds of thousand Nigerians in the US. I can't even imagine how they manage to handle all the cases.

Wow! Am so amazed and surprised how I was treated professionally by the consular section today. The lady i spoke with was so calm to listen and very helpful in addressing my issues, contrary to the perception have been hearing. Kudos to the Nigeria Embassy Washington DC

I had a really great experience. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. Everyone was nice and understanding...plus it felt so much like home. Follow the instructions on the website to the letter: plan ahead (submit your application and payment in advance), bring all the documents requested, get there early, be polite and please be open-minded. Good luck!

My actual experience getting my passport renewed was fine, but my rating is as low as it is because of the lack of communication. My passport expired right when Covid hit, so after I scheduled my appointment, I received no communication/updates as to how the embassy would handle rescheduling appointments for months.nnIt was impossible to reach them by phone, email, and I even showed up in person on my initial appointment date in case it was still scheduled, and the gentleman there checking the mail just said they were closed to try back the next day. It’s baffling and unacceptable how difficult it is to get in touch.nnThat withstanding, I was able to reschedule my appointment 6 months later, and on my appointment date, everything went smoothly, quickly, and efficiently.nnTips for anyone who has an appointment for a passport renewal:nn1. Print the Passport Application form to be completed onlinen2. Print the Payment confirmation Slipn3. Print Acknowledgment Slipn4. Print a copy of the data page of Nigerian Passportn5. Bring the expired Nigerian Passportn6. Bring two current passport-size photographs preferably with white backgroundn7. Bring a prepaid express USPS envelope or $30 in cash to have the passport mailed back to youn8. The embassy actually opens at 10am. The earlier you get there, the less you’ll have to wait your turn.
