I'm not sure about other reviews but we were blown away when we tried this bakery last Saturday! Everything was delicious and as a hobby baker myself (including sourdough loaves), I know how much work goes into making the loaf of bread and pastries we got so I felt the price was fair, especially for the quality. These aren't Walmart croissants! The favorite out of everything was the chocolate almond croissant, so delicious!

Not by my choice, but we ended up here again this weekend and got a couple chocolate croissants. I've included a picture of this... absolutely Depressing pastry. It has what like 6 chocolate chips in it maybe? And the croissant dough is definitely Not as buttery and flaky as it ought to be--it is more like an airy italian loaf than croissant.

I miss Bonaparte so much. I decided to try Rustiq again and still disappointing. Way overpriced for what you get. Pastries ($7 each) are just OK. Chocolate croissants ($4 each) are not made with butter and are more what you would find in a grocery store. The only reason i gave 2 stars was for their baguette ($4). Nice flavor, but a bit overcooked and way too short.

This has been a repeated disappointment since it changed ownership, from Bonaparte Breads to this. I used to come here for the absolutely decadent almond croissants. Once it changed ownership, I gave them 3 separate tries in the following 6 months. I'm not sure how you can make a wet croissant but that's how I got them--floppy, literally soaking on the bottom, and definitely skimpy on the almond paste.nnNot by my choice, but we ended up here again this weekend and got a couple chocolate croissants. Pretty on the outside, no spirit on the inside.

After living in Europe for several years I’m always on the quest to find an authentic French Boulangerie here in the US, and so we discovered Rustiq in a quiet corner of the historic savage mill district (after finding their page randomly via FB).nBeen there twice so far and I must say their croissants are flakey and buttery the way an authentic croissant should be ... the best in this area!nThe chocolate croissant is very nice too but what takes the cake is the Kouign Amann. It’s absolutely delicious and a must-try item! Haven’t tried any of their breads or savory items yet but will try those too.nPrices are a bit on the steep side though but at least it beats the schlep to DC to Christophe’s....nI would suggest that some bundle packages are offered so one is incentivized to buy larger quantities. Example a 6 pack of croissants should cost less than 6 individual ones.nRegardless I think I’ve found my goto French bakery in town !
