I have been to the Chalmette Monument and the House next door. I came here on a Veteran's day to pay tribute to the fallen. This cemetery is extremely old and very well taken care of. There were other people putting down remembrances as well. Very calm, quiet and peaceful.

It’s pretty cool to have a 200-year battlefield just a few miles form your house. It is primarily a large field (that doubles as a cemetery), but the visitor center is informative and the rangers lead several talks throughout the day. Not a bad place to spend an hour or so when you need a break from partying on Bourbon Street.

Historic Landmark in Chalmette, LA where the Battle of New Orleans took place led by General Andrew Jackson. The Creole Queen Riverboat is docked on the Mississippi River at the Chalmette Battlefield where they give daily tours. Besides a Cemetery, this National Park also has Beautiful Monuments and an Antebellum Home. There is also a Visitors Center with Battle of New Orleans memorabilia, short videos outlining the Battle and it's Commanders, and a lovely Gift Shop.

Great experience. Park Ranger was very informative. I learned about a part of the US history that was previously unaware.

My daughter and I took an educational trip to the battlefield on the Creole Queen in December 2015. The tour guide was simply amazing with his colorful/exciting narrative of the Battle of New Orleans and the history of the area before/after the battle. Amazing! A must see adventure for any one visiting New Orleans!
