Madison Massage

My friend and I arrived at this location for a massage. They didn’t seem too welcoming and stared at us speaking in their language after telling them which service we wanted.nnBefore receiving my service, I was asked to pay in advance and for a tip in advance. I kindly told the lady I will pay in advance but will tip her after the service. The lady swiped my card and said “$42”. The service was supposed to be $40. So I just figured it was taxes until my friend told me hers was the flat amount it was said to be on their price sheet.nnMy friend on the other hand, who is Caucasian (I am African American), was told by the same lady, she could pay AFTER the service. I’m assuming she thought I didn’t hear because I was already getting situated in my room for the massage.nnAfter the service, I gave her a $5 tip. My friend also gave a $5 tip.nnThe ladies that worked at this place started talking to each other in their language. I could tell they were not pleased with my tip. Then, to my surprise, another lady approached me and asked if I can give a $10 tip instead, repeatedly saying that the massage was a really good massage. The service was ok but at the time I figured maybe they just really need the extra money, so I allowed them to take off $10 total in tip.nnAfter speaking with my friend about the situation and after she confirmed she didn’t have to pay until after, they didn’t charge her an extra $2 or ask her for an extra $5 tip, I decided to write this review. After some thought, it seems like racial profiling to me. I could be wrong but they should have the same policy set in stone for anyone who walks through their doors. They should not beg for more tip money either. It was just very unprofessional.

Had potential. Answered quickly and were courteous. The actually massage was lackluster and cut short. 20 min instead of the thirty minutes paid for. Thought it was going to be extended to the allotted time, but was not. Was still asked for a tip, frustrating experience. Like I said... had potential.

The massage from Wendy was excellent. I will be going back. She was very nice and kind!
