Highland Bakery & Kitchen - Cumberland

My boyfriend and I were very excited to see that there was a location close to us, as we typically go to the location on Highland Ave. After entering, we were immediately greeted and given waters after being seated, which was great. However, it took several minutes before we were greeted by our server and offered drinks. There were about 5 other tables, and I believe it took over 20 minutes to get our food. My boyfriend got the French Toast, which tasted great! I got the Cilantro Corn Pancakes, which I always get at the other location. On the menu, it states that the eggs are “over medium”, however mine were burnt, and completely hardened, along with shredded cheese thrown on the plate, instead of it being melted on top. Our server came and checked on us, I told him about the eggs, and he offered to get me new eggs. The amount of time for 2 over medium eggs to be cooked (with 5 other tables in the entire restaurant) was about 10 minutes, and they were underdone! I could pick the egg white out of them with my fork, gross. We talked to a manager and expressed our disappointment with the meal, and she was really sweet, and said that it was the cook’s first day, which is understandable, however it was just eggs. She said she would give us a discount on our bill, hoping that she would take off my entire $14 meal (I ate less than half), we were disappointed to see that only $3.29 was taken off for “Customer Satisfaction”. We didn’t bother mentioning it, as our experience was so disappointing we just wanted to leave. As they are still pretty new, I hope they can improve! I think for now we are going to make the drive to the other location.

Absolutely LOVED the Cumberland location! Food was great, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Service was super friendly, and loved the chat I had with the manager, Jessica. She's got an amazing personality for what she does, and you can tell she truly values the customers they serve! I'll definitely be back!

I had an omelette, chai latte, and grits and they were all delicious! The waitress was super friendly and they were great to my pup; we sat outside and had a relaxing breakfast ud83dude01 I have met the owner and she is such a great lady, and it seems they have made a nice little business! Try them out!! They are a new small business, and we all know how far a review and some new customers can go.

This was my first visit and I'm so thrilled that we have this location in Smyrna. My breakfast was so fresh,tasty and beautifully presented. The staff was so attentive and I'm definitely coming back soon!

Food and personnel are always great, however the waiting time to receive your food is pretty long. This is our second time at this location and we hoped it would be better but we have again waited past 30-40 minutes to receive our food. Both times I ordered just simple oatmeal so it’s kind of frustrating for them to take this long.
