I highly recommend Adam Day Violins. We have taken all of our family instruments to him and he has been able to upgrade each of our sound and knows how to play the instruments as well. He and his reputable team have a great variety of options to choose from. They are fair on their pricing and have service that rivals or exceeds major metropolitan areas with high fine instruments. I am glad they are close in proximity for our family!
I have always enjoyed going here ever since my father took me. When I could drive, this was practically my second home. With the new addition of stringed instruments by Adam Day, it really makes this place pop. Great and huge selection of music as well as intricately balanced stringed instruments make this a perfect place for musicians young and old; new and experienced.
Adam and his team did a repair on my cello last week and I could not be more pleased. I came to them because my bridge was warped, my strings were old and my sound post had come out of place. Adam talked me through the repairs, pointing out where he could save me money and helped cut my costs. He was very honest and considerate. I just picked up the instrument a few days ago was floored. In the shop it sounded amazing but as each day goes by and I play, it sounds better and better. I can hardly believe it is the same instrument I had before. What they were able to do to that instrument is pretty miraculous. I HIGHLY recommend Adam for all your instrument needs. Thank you ADV!
My daughter started violin at 3 and reached a point where she was concert master in her Timpanogos chamber orchestra in Alpine, Utah. At that time, in 2008, I promised Ashley that we would get her a "performance level" instrument. Not being an expert myself, we went to many of the recommended places for instruments in SLC and Utah County looking for guidance. By luck we encountered Adam Day (a budding luthier) at his family's store on Main Street Lehi. He suggested we give one of his instruments a try. He explained that he worked hard to create synergy between the strings and the instrument by playing different combinations until he was satisfied that the sound out of each instrument he sold exceeded expectations.
After our search, we had collected around 10 violins on our living room floor from the respected sources in Utah--and one from Adam Day. My daughter played all of the instruments over, and over....and over........and over. She kept coming back to a particular Violin that just seemed to play in a way none of the others could match....it was the violin from Adam Day. Ashley's violin teacher was amazed as this violin was playing better than instruments twice the price. Needless to say, we were one of Adam Day's earliest customers with that violin.
My son became jealous of his big sister's music and violin...he wanted to start the violin too...After a few years, he decided he wanted to be different and fell in love with the cello. When he reached the point of 1st cello in his Timpanogos chamber orchestra, Dad had another promise to keep...a performance cello for Michael. Did we spend tons of time going to all the other places this time? Nah. We went straight to Adam. It was no surprise to me that in the intervening years his business had GROWN and we were so happy for him! After Michael's working with Adam on a number of different cellos, he settled on the instrument that was "perfect" for him
Adam has been standing behind both of these instruments if anything started to get out of sorts with these instruments for all of the intervening years. All we had to do was stop by and he would make the instruments "sing" again.
My son is coming home from 2 years of volunteer service in Romania next month and, of course, I thought of Adam. I recently dropped off my son's cello and my daughter's violin for a tune-up. Adam just called me a few minutes ago and told me he had a few new string combinations he had been testing on the violin and cello and felt they were superior in sound. Sadly, my kids could weigh in with their opinion, but I appreciated the call. With all of the years of amazing trust Adam has built up with my family, do you think I could say no? Of course not! I have every confidence my children will be thankful as always for the TLC that Adam shares with them and their instruments.
I have no doubt that Michael and Ashley with have the time of their lives playing together again this holiday season for the first time in sooo long.
I hardly ever write google reviews, but after all these years, I felt guilty for not sharing our appreciation for the many years of excellence that Adam and his team have given to us and the instruments we purchased from him.
There are people who sell violins and cellos as instruments in the state of Utah, but I feel like Adam Day sells something more--he gave us the investment of his love of string instruments and excellence from the instruments he sold us...regardless of the price tag.
We had the privilege of having Angela help us select and purchase an intermediate viola for our growing son. She was experienced and knowledgeable with the instrument and took time to help us understand the differences between our options. We never felt rushed or pressured throughout the process. The instrument quality is great as well. The tone of the viola we bought is better than some at twice the price point we played in other stores. We feel that we got a great deal on an instrument that our son could play for a lifetime.
