We enjoyed the haunted history of this hotel and the charm that the Citadel has. The kids loved the spiral stairs and we had a good amount of space in our room. The food was very good with lots of hot and cold options and I loved the grits. It was very pleasant eating outside on the courtyard. We loved the proximity to all the sites and that everything we wanted to do was walking distance. My only complaint is that inside our room was a bit dark and dingy but overall I would recommend this place.

First off, when you think of Embassy Suites, you think of the highest Hilton accommodations. We've stayed in unbelievably nice Embassy Suites. The pros of the Embassy Suites in Charleston...the staff is exceptional. All were very nice and informative. The breakfast was pretty good, the standard fare (scrambled eggs, meat, biscuits and gravy, muffins, etc.). You can also walk everywhere. The cons.......the room. This hotel is so outdated and musty. There is mold on the bathroom tile. I had a migraine headache every night from the mold. There are no towel bars in the bathroom to hang towels on. Water pressure was outstanding, however only one of us could take a shower before there was no hot water for a long time afterward. The furniture is very small to even put stuff in. In our king room, there was only one side table. It would be nice to have a table on each side like other hotels to put your stuff on at night. Carpet is worn. Bed is awful. There is no padding left. Basically, I'm astonished that Hilton spends money building new hotels and not overhaul and update older hotels. Also parking is ridiculous. The hotel shares a parking garage with another hotel. So you either have to pay $25/day to park in the garage or $35/day to valet. We chose valet. The valet guys were very nice and retrieved our car immediately. There is no free parking. Overall, the staff is exception, the hotel room, not so much.

First, let me say the service here is exceptional. Jeremy at the front desk is terrific. 5 Star service all the way around. The sad part is the state of the hotel doesn’t match the service. The stench is present in the room, and it’s not pleasant. The bed was maybe the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever experienced in any hotel. I could feel the springs pressing into my back. I’m not an inexperienced traveler either. I’m a Hilton diamond member for years now. This could be an amazing hotel if they invested some money in it. I would have given it one star but the service brought it up to two. Hilton should be ASHAMED of themselves for letting this place get to it’s current condition.

The building was neat and the glass elevator was a cool touch. It is in need of some updating but the staff was really friendly and helpful!nnThe parking was not great and pricey. It should be free for the price of the rooms.
