We have been visiting Hayes Barton sin e we first moved here from Australia, 19 years ago. The owners Frank and Marget are lovely and the food has never failed to please (the mussels are a family favorite). Of course, if you are dining there or taking food to go, you must not forget dessert, for which they are renowned. We had the oreo cheesecake last week, and it was delicious! We always try and take family who are visiting to eat there too, as it is a great combination of cozy environment, wonderful customer service, and fabulous food!
This is the best restaurant in Raleigh. We have been eating here for years and shared many special occasions with friends and family. The owners and staff are some of the best you can hope to meet. The special menu is almost always the way to go but some of the menu standbys are sublime. Hints. Mussels, chopped salad, meatloaf. Enjoy.

The BEST cake I’ve ever had. I’ve been to dozens of bakeries and never had cake this good. Price is higher than other establishments but the so is the portion so it definitely works out. Always got the slices to-go so can’t really comment on customer service as a dine-in customer and never had their food.
Nothing but top shelf food and service. Frank and Marget a long with all the staff deliver a great experience!
