I did a walk in for a tourist visa. So I didn’t deal with calling anyone so this is just an experience as a walk in, and for a foreigner with no Eritrean descent (no 2% tax problems). I walked into the embassy, and there was a line of people in a not very clear line just packed into the room. There was a sign saying to take a number, but there were no numbers and the monitor said “now serving 00” . So that system probably hasn’t been a thing for a while. After waiting around for a bit, eventually it was my turn. I went up to the window to ask if I had everything, and if the visa was not going to be approved within 3 weeks, to just send my passport back without the visa as I had a flight to Ethiopia and could do without visiting Eritrea. The man at the window didn’t evidently speak English and was mute. I left my passport regardless and left convinced I was never going to see my passport again (the Ethiopian embassy held my passport for 4 weeks claiming they never received it so I just came from a different embassy with a bad experience). However two days later I got a call from the Eritrean embassy saying they are working on my application. I received the visa in leas than 2 weeks. Pleasantly surprised. Got my visa went to Eritrea. Success.

Very bad service, they are asking for 5 dollars that is not required, the people who answered the phone are clueless and can’t answer any questions, they just want to take money, very slow, the man wants a bribe to finish official documents

I wish there was a 0 star or negative star. I have been calling for more than a week no one picks the phone and After I finally got some one to pick me the guy was literally abusive and rushing me and not answering my questions. They give very inconsistent information. I am used to the good customer service in USA and I can't handle those rude people who work at Eritrea embassy. Why do people pay the 2% and expect 0 service? Please learn from the good culture in USA and leave the stupid rudeness in Eritrea.
