Sugar Bakers

This story starts last year about 2 weeks before Christmas. I called this bakery and asked if I could place a special order for a key lime cheesecake with raspberry jelly swirl. I know that this is an item they make because I have had it before. I also thought that this green tinted cheesecake with red swirls would be a great dessert for Christmas. When I asked for that the lady said they “won’t” make the cheesecake because they don’t make cheesecake in the winter because “it’s not a winter dessert”. Never went back until today. Big mistake. I was hoping to go in take a look at what is in the case and pick something for New Year’s Eve dinner. I checked online and it said they were open until 4. I arrived at the store at 3 from parkville, walked up to the door and there is a note that says showroom closed please call for an order. So I called and asked if they happened to have anything in the showcase, “no” is the answer I got. I said oh I was hoping to grab something quick do you have anything, she said “no, we are only serving call ahead customers, if you want something you need to call before hand”. She was very rude and didn’t even try to help or offer anything like asking what was I looking for, nothing. It baffles me that a small business turns away customers in an economic climate like this. I wanted to keep my money and business local but I can honestly say that with these 2 experiences that I will never give this place another chance or thought if I ever need a baked item. There are a lot more friendlier bakers in the area that would be willing to try and make a sale.

Sugar Bakers did an amazing job on our rehearsal dinner cake that was tailored to my groom’s interests and our wedding cake. Both were done very beautifully and tasted yummy. Some people were even wanting seconds of the cake since they were so in love. They added a small detail of a realistic sculpture of our dog that everyone loved. We did have a little trouble when we went to cut it since we didn’t realize there was a smaller base in the center but it made it funnier during the cake cutting. I would definitely recommend and look into using them again for another occasion.

Customer service was great, but not the cupcake unfortunately.

We ABSOLUTELY LOVED our cake from Sugar Bakers! They had a huge variety of flavors for us to choose from-between the cakes, the fillings and the icing flavors/textures, we had so much to choose from. Choosing just 2 cake flavors was such a challenge but it was so fun to do! The final product that showed up for our wedding was beyond delightful! Everyone who had a piece commented on how the flavors were amazing and we got so many questions about the cake. Couldn't recommend them enough!

My experience with SugarBakers was fantastic. We had a delicious, detailed first meeting to setup what we wanted for our wedding and it went smooth as could be. We asked for varying flavors of cupcakes and had one cake for us and one for a birthday. Everything was delicious and looked fantastic!!
