Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in San Francisco

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco for their great help! Even though they are closed to the public due to COVID-19 pandemic, they still offer services for urgent cases. Recently I misplaced two documents from 2 different clients and notified the consulate by email, meanwhile I told my client to wait patiently since it would be very hard to locate a document in the consulate. But to my surprise, they found the document just one day after my email, and a nice lady officer called me back talked to me in person. Thanks again for their professionalism, responsibility, and prompt response to the people who need help from the consulate.

If there was a way to give negative stars, I would because this Mickey Mouse operation they got going on has, in effect, robbed me of my passport. I applied for a visa last year in February, but was not able to get it because the pandemic broke out and shut everything down. Every single time I try to retrieve it, they are either closed due to the pandemic or say I fail to meet such and such requirement and henceforth would not be allowed to get it back. Every single communication I have with them ends in failure because they either lack English language skills or do not care whatsoever to do their job effectively and/or make the process more convenient for the customer at all. NEVER GO HERE. THEY ARE BAD. TRY THE LA CONSULATE IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU.

Poor service , they need to train more how to do their work in USA not like in china where they come from. Bad government.

Visit there for my daughter’s visa and renewing my passport. The process is very quick, but been told the visa can’t be mailed. It’s shocking to me, but I always prepare something unexpected. So I choose to expedite the visa, which it only takes one business day. When I pick up visa, and been told need more time to review and come back in the afternoon. Anyway, I got the visa done by end of second day, which is big plus. Yes, the place is a little chaos, but the staff is much friendly than other Chinese consulates and very efficient. Maybe a better management would be helpful.

Why do people hate this place so much. If you wanna go to China then you gotta wait! Especially with the current US/China relations, it’s not making it easy for us regular citizens who wants to visit China. Bring ALL the docs you need, get there early.
