Larkin Mortuary - Riverton

I couldn't recommend this mortuary enough. We dealt with a late-term pregnancy loss and Gabe, the director, couldn't have been more kind and compassionate. He provided several options and advice to help us memorialize our son and we are forever grateful! We will be recommending them to everyone we know. They are a wonderful asset to our community.

THINK TWICE ABOUT USING LARKIN. My friend recently used Larkin Mortuary (downtown) and while her mother's funeral was handled satisfactorily, she can't shake the feeling that she was manipulated and ripped off while in an extremely vulnerable state. I'm convinced that my friend's instincts are correct because the same thing ALMOST happened to us. When my father died, we rather hastily chose Larkin (Riverton) based on name recognition. After Larkin transported my father and began the embalming process, we questioned our choice because our consultation with Larkin left us feeling incredibly uneasy and unimpressed. Larkin's approach actually shocked our then-fragile sensibilities, for it was 1,000% about "the sale." The consultation (with a gentleman named Gabe, I believe) was a classic sales pitch replete with techniques used to build rapport and trust. In addition, we could see from a quick search of other funeral service providers that Larkin's coffin prices were brazenly jacked up above typical market values. Larkin's focus on "the sale" was incredibly offensive to us; the last thing we wanted as we grappled with our grief was to deal with a business who was clearly intent on manipulating our emotions---and our wallets---when we were most vulnerable. So we followed our instincts, paid Larkin for the limited services they provided, and jumped ship. We received a glowing recommendation from my dad's hospice team about Serenity Funeral Home so we had them take over. Serenity was the POLAR OPPOSITE in its approach; they were genuinely compassionate, informed us of our options in a straightforward manner without pressure or shameful sales tactics, and were very reasonably priced (e.g., for the exact same coffins, Larkin unnecessarily charged THOUSANDS more). I sincerely hope that more families will think twice before using Larkin. Even if Larkin may be able to provide competent services, why allow yourself to be manipulated to pay significantly more than necessary, especially if your loved one's finances are limited? TRUST YOUR GUT AND GO ELSEWHERE! It was the best decision we made to walk away from Larkin.

The death of my daughter was the hardest thing I have been through. The staff of Larkin were very helpful and kind. I really don’t remember much due to the stress but they took care of us very well

Both of my parents have passed over the last eight years. When my mom passed in 2011 Nick Larkin helped us with her funeral. Our experience with Nick and Larkin Mortuary was outstanding! The compassion and caring attitude Larkin showed toward our family, made a very difficult time much easier. As a result of our experience with my mother, there was no hesitation in deciding who would take care of my father’s funeral. At his passing, Nick and Larkin Mortuary again stepped up to the plate and treated us with the upmost respect and kindness. They made each step of the funeral process simple and clear, making sure that our wishes we’re honored. I would recommend Larkin Mortuary to anyone who is in need during their time of trial.
