About 1 1/2 years ago, as a treat for my 60th birthday, my husband took me to Baldassin’s to have fun trying out their pianos, which are the finest in the world. Mark made us feel so welcome, even though he knew their pianos were out of our budget. Playing a Fazioli concert grand was amazing! About 8 months later, browsing the KSL Classifieds in my never ending search for a grand that I could afford, I saw that Baldassin’s had a used 6’4” Petrof in stock for less than I could have hoped for! I mentioned it to my husband, and we agreed to go the following Saturday to have a look. We live in southern Utah County, and that Saturday a semi jackknifed and closed I-15 in both directions. After waiting several hours I asked my husband if we could go the long way around! So we headed out through Santaquin, Genola, Goshen, around Utah Lake, through Saratoga Springs, and got back on the freeway in north Lehi. By the time we reached Baldassin’s we’d been on the road 2 1/2 hours. And worth the trip; that Petrof was the perfect piano for me. The price was low because of some sun fading, but when Rick Baldassin came out to show me the finer points, he told me I’d never find a better piano in that price range. My husband and I discussed it on the way home - going up over Point of the Mountain from Draper to Highland and getting back on the freeway in Pleasant Grove because it was still closed - and we agreed to get it. And I cried, because I’d been wanting a grand for 45 years. When it was delivered in early December I couldn’t play it well because I needed wrist surgery in January. After the surgery, their awesome tuner Gavin came and not only tuned it but gave it a thorough cleaning, charging less than the previous tuners who’d worked on my old upright. Now with COVID-19 on the rampage, what a blessing it’s been to have my beautiful piano to practice! Many thanks to everyone at Baldassin’s for their excellent service.

Searched all over for a piano that was just right for the family and found it here, thanks to the help of Mark Hoffman. He was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. He didn't lay on any pressure and made me feel very comfortable and taken care of despite me failing to set an appointment to come in. It is now my life goal to buy that beautiful Fazioli from him someday.

Yes! I love it! I practice so much more now, too. Just for fun!

The sales guy was very friendly even though we weren't looking to buy the $200,000 Faziloi. It would've been nice if they had some older used pianos for regular people to buy. The cool part was my bf playing a piano the same price as a Lamborghini Urus

I am in the market for a new grand piano, and at the suggestion of a friend, who is also a highly respected member of the Piano Technicians Guild, I decided to take the afternoon off from work and pay a visit to Baldassin Pianos in Draper. They did not disappoint. Putting this in context, I have been doing extensive research online as well as in person for nearly a year, knowing this would be a long term investment--not a financial one, of course--but an investment in the joy that music has brought into my life for so many decades. I am only an intermediate-level amateur pianist, but have had an opportunity to play dozens of pianos, in churches, homes, schools, conservatories, and universities. I narrowed my search to a lesser known but justifiably prestigious line of pianos by Estonia. My experience at Baldassin was so vastly different from any showroom edginess and anxiety other dealers have induced, I feel compelled to share it. I did not make an appointment (in retrospect I probably should have considering the kind of inventory they carry), but rather walked in completely unannounced. I was warmly greeted by a very cheerful woman who smiled at me, shook my hand, asked me how she could help, and once I'd expressed my interest in and a desire to test drive an L210, escorted me directly back to the workshop as if I were an old family friend, and before I knew it I was being introduced to the owner himself. Mr. Baldassin, who was clearly and intensely focused on a piano rebuild project, looked up, promptly set down his tools and, upon learning of my intent, graciously escorted me back to the showroom, propped open the lid of an L210, procured me a bench, and invited me to play. This is not a review of that specific piano which, I will admit had me completely mesmerized. Its touch and the lyrical, singing quality of its tone was nothing short of magical, but I will save the "gushing" over the instrument for another time. That said, I'm pretty certain Mr. Baldassin has been in the presence of many of the world's finest musicians, and while my keyboard skills are merely pedestrian comparatively-speaking, he answered my questions respectfully and without pretense, expressed his professional opinions frankly, provided excellent guidance and insight, and offered to me the same level of attention and courtesy I might have expected to receive had I pulled up in a stretch limo with an entourage. He also invited me to try out a gently used Schimmel semi-concert grand so that I might compare and contrast for purposes of further refining my purchasing decision. The entire experience from the moment I entered until the time I was practically skipping out of the showroom like a child back to my car, left me at once both excited and refreshed by the "no pressure," friendly, and helpful environment they have no doubt intentionally created for their customers. It is clear they are passionate about what they do, and the customer service they provide is top-shelf. I will, of course be back. That Estonia L210 has been talking to me in my sleep. An update...I eventually did take the plunge with the Estonia L210 grand piano and it does not disappoint. Rick Baldassin was an absolute pleasure to work with and was especially accommodating during all phases of the transaction from purchase to delivery. The piano was so masterfully prepped by him and his team that even simple works sound like a much more highly skilled musician is on the bench. The effect can only be described as delicious. Needless to say, Baldassin Pianos now has a new customer for life in me.
