What an incredible treasure we have here in Alabama - so much history of Alabama Native American clans, tribes and nation. Dating back thousands and thousands of years with relics, arrowheads and pottery. You’ll learn customs, games that were played and how they lived.nnThere is so much to see and do - you may want to take the family, go for a picnic, or grab a canoe and jump on the water. Lots to do at this beautiful park and learning center - definitely a keeper

Love stopping by this place. Right off 157. I see that the education center is closed on Sundays... Is it still possible to drive through and read the historical markers?

A great place to bring the entire family. Very educational. An all around great place to quickly pass a whole day. Copena Indians are the Native Americans who built these mounds. I believe that the biggest mound is a ceremonial mound and the smaller one is a burial mound. The museum boast a huge collection of local native American flint arrowheads, tools, pottery and a lot more. It also has like a ten foot tall wood carving statue of the cherokee indian that made the cherokee alphabet. Sorry his name is evading me. Also has a great gift shop
