Amazing bakes, and very COVID-cautious environment (which is very important to me right now). They ask you not to enter the store without a mask on, but still provide service outside if you do not have one. When I was inside, a customer took his mask off and the employees immediately (but very politely) asked him to put it on or leave. Their baked goods are incredible as well, I've never had something that I didn't like there!

Ninth street Bakery has been a favorite of mine since it was actually on Ninth Street, now located in the loading dock nook of the former Herald Sun building on Chapel Hill street and Main streets near 5 points. The best on the menu continues to include black bean soup and their signature breads (remember this is a working bakery as well as the value lunch deal place in gentrified downtown.) Now I enjoy Indian or Thai seasoned Lentils (see Dahl in the Indian context and curry in the Thai). For vegetarians they have a non melt or melty vegetarian sandwich. Both do the trick and come with either slaw or bag of chips. Meat lovers will find a good choice in the cold cut deli sandwiches. Pastries, and cookies are very size generous and tasty.

The mourning bun had a unique taste of cinnamon, mixed with egg and blueberry cream cheese pastry had large berries in the filling very good.

Each time I visit Duke University, this bakery is a must stop- Ginger snaps, breads, scones, ALL GOOD and GREAT service! The owner saw me outside (after they had closed) and invited me in. Highly recommend.

Most amazing bread I’ve ever had. Ever.
